Susumu Yokota returns with one of his most engaging albums to date. Every track a gently growing gem. From the almost soft bossa vibes of 'Love Tendrilises' to the fractured folk of 'A White Flower', the electronic jazz of 'A Ray Of Light' and the Twin Peaks beauty of 'Meltwater', this is an album that repays deep and repeated listening. 'Initially the whole buisness floats off into the ether, but in time the melodies take hold and what at first listen appears to be lightweight noodling asserts itself as rich, varied and memorable, most effectively on the impossibly catchy 'Tree Surgeon'. Lets hear it for quite music.' Q Magazine 'Production-wise the LP is flawless. with every mood and atmosphere portraye buoyantly, in whichever style Yokota wishes. The warped folk of 'A White Flower' and soulful 'Lov Tendrilises' stand out on first listen but the minimualist mastery of 'The Natural Process' and 'Meltwater' require a little more of your attention. Lest ye not cast this one aside. 'Mother' will reward your patience.' Clash Magazine 'Etheral voices are omniprescent, marshalled as wordless mantras served up by speacial guests...and it;s when Yokota lets in the cold upon these well-chosen friends that his knack of Conjuring the dreamlike really coalesces into something magisterial.' Plan B Magazine 'Mother' proves to be well titles, much of it – the odd folksy detour aside – characterised by cosseting, amniotic synth drifts; a womb-like ambience from which cathedral vocal reverbs and lyrics about cascading water' hardly detract.'
