Broken Dog

The north London duo of Martine Roberts and Clive Painter, supplemented by various friends along the way, have, over the years, plotted a steady course of releases since 1996 when they put out their eponymous debut album out on Big Cat Records.Written and recorded at their home studio, 'Animal', "Brighter Now" is Broken Dog's fourth album and their debut long player for the Kitty Kitty Corporation.

Resonant and lilting, within these 10 fiercely individualistic tracks are slabs of sweeping brass, lush orchestration, intimate dreamy vocals and plangent rock guitars all interwoven as naturally as breathing. At the same time they manage to retain that languorous, haunting quality that made them so appealing from the start.

They have also been happy helping to shape the music of others.. Bands who've recorded at Animal over the last couple of years include ( The Real ) Tuesday Weld, Monograph, Pacific Radio and Miss Mend - not to mention that they co-wrote, recorded and co-produced Tram's debut album " Heavy Black Frame". With this album we should see the band emerging to take more of the centre stage. Having managed to keep a relatively low profile, being one of the UK's more laid back and elusive bands, they are now slowly and surely revealing their talents to an ever-increasing audience.
