The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) 2008 brings together: Curriculum Guidance for the Foundation Stage (2000), the Birth to Three Matters (2002) framework and the National Standards for Under 8s Daycare and Childminding (2003), building a coherent and flexible approach to care and learning. All providers are required to use the EYFS to ensure that whatever setting parents choose, they can be confident that their child will receive a quality experience that supports their development and learning.
The EYFS divides the children’s learning and development into six areas:-
- Personal, social and emotional development
- Communication, Language and Literacy development
- Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy
- Knowledge and Understanding of the World
- Physical development
- Creative development
For each early learning goal, the guidance sets out Stepping Stones, which describe the stages through which children are likely to pass as they move to achievement of the goal. Whiteley Pre-School uses the early learning goals and their Stepping Stones to help us to trace each child’s progress and to enable us to provide the right activities to help all children move towards achievement of the early learning goals.
At our termly open week sessions you will have the opportunity to view your child's Learning Journey and see activities in practice.
